Zakai Zeigler set the Tennessee basketball record for career steals Wednesday against Georgia.
The Vols guard passed Santiago Vescovi when he stole an inbound pass early in the second half for his 213th steal at Tennessee.
Zeigler tied Vincent Yarbrough, who played at UT from 1998-2002, with 211 career steals with a pair of first-half steals against Georgia. He matched Vescovi with a steal at the 16:54 mark, then passed it at the 15:55 mark.
Vescovi set the program record in five seasons from 2019-24, although his first season in 2019 was a half season as he joined the Vols at midseason.
Zeigler entered the season with 181 steals in his first three seasons. He had 60 as a freshman, 59 as a sophomore and a career-high 62 as a junior. He has been named to the SEC All-Defensive team in all three seasons.
The Long Island, New York, native was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in the 2023-24 season.
