Nine singles main draw matches have been scheduled for Monday at 2024 WTA Tennis in the Land in Cleveland, Ohio, including No. 5 seed Anastasia Potapova taking on Diane Parry. It’s a clash of two former junior World No. 1s with the Frenchwoman taking their only previous pro clash in Portoroz in 2022. Who do you think will advance to the next round this time around? We also predict the rest of the day’s matches, split between two articles. One features Anna Karolina Schmiedlova vs Clara Tauson and the other highlights Sofia Kenin vs Katie Volynets.
Head-to-head: First meeting
This is a nice opportunity for 20-year-old Katrina Scott to test herself at a level she hasn’t competed at in a while. She recently made a quarterfinal at a stacked ITF event in Landisville, getting a win over top-seeded World No. 103 Renata Zarazua. But it was McCartney Kessler who won that tournament to break the Top 100. The former University of Florida standout is just a much more mature player for now and she should be able to use it to her advantage in this one.
Prediction: Kessler in 2
Head-to-head: Trevisan 3-0
Other than a WTA 125 event in Bastad where she won the title, this season hasn’t been kind to Martina Trevisan. The Italian used to have a method for Cristina Bucsa, taking her out in straight sets at three separate events on different surfaces and in different conditions. But Bucsa is the one who’s making progress while the development of Trevisan has become stale. Could be a nice chance for the Spaniard to get back at her opponent, she’s way better now than when they last played.
Prediction: Bucsa in 3

Head-to-head: Parry 1-0
It’s very tough to know what to expect from Anastasia Potapova and while once the Russian was a popular pick for one of the next players to break the Top 10, she’s now down to World No. 44 in the WTA Rankings. Her North American swing isn’t going as planned either with just one win in three events. But maybe she can take down Diane Parry. It’s possible to rush the Frenchwoman on hard courts and Potapova will be in slightly better rhythm on the surface as her opponent is playing for the first time since the Olympics.
Prediction: Potapova in 3
