It is interesting to see how fortunes change quickly in sports. Ask Coco Gauff, who has found the winning touch once again. Amid a disappointing season, Gauff is through to the summit clash of the China Open in Beijing. Earlier today, she knocked out the in-form, Paula Badosa in a thrilling semi-final which went to three sets. Just before the tournament in Beijing, the American sensation separated from legendary coach, Brad Gilbert and announced Matt Daly as her new coach. Following her good run here, Gauff was asked about the impact that Daly has had in the short time that they have worked together.

Talking about her dynamic with Daly during their training sessions, Gauff, in the post-match press conference, said, “Yeah, for me, I mean, with the relationship, adding Matt to the team, we literally just started like two weeks ago, so really only had a week to work with training-wise, then we had to come to China and the tournament.”

Despite starting to work with Daly just a few days back, Gauff is already seeing a lot of progress, which is evident from her performance in Beijing. She went on to add, “Just even behind the scenes and everything you guys don’t see, I think it’s great. I’m happy with my decision regardless if I lost the first round or in a final this week. So yeah, I’m happy to have him on the team. I feel like he’s already making significant progress. Him and JC are working well.”

Last month, Gauff separated from Gilbert, with the latter taking to social media to announce the split. Nonetheless, the legendary coach was all praise of the youngster and said, “Coco, at just 20 years young, your future is incredibly bright, and I wish you nothing but continued success ahead. I’m excited for the next chapter in my coaching career.” Subsequently, Gauff turned to Daly, who has joined her team as a full-time coach.

But, Gauff is not the only WTA star who has parted ways with her coach recently. There is another big player who is without a coach right now and that’s none other than Iga Swiatek. Interestingly, Gauff’s ex-coach’s name has popped up as a potential new coach of Swiatek.

Yesterday, Swiatek announced a shocking split with Tomasz Wiktorowski, her long-time coach. Recent results weren’t going her way and Swiatek felt that the time was right to make the change. Subsequently, she also revealed that she is looking for a foreign coach to replace Wiktoro. As a result, renowned tennis expert Tomasz Tomaszewski, suggested Gilbert’s name to be her next coach.

Tomaszewski, during an interview, said, If I were Iga’s advisor, I would say without hesitation: Brad Gilbert. For me, he’s the best coach in the world.” Additionally, the name of Naomi Osaka’s ex-coach, Wim Fissette is also doing the rounds on social media.
