The accident followed a narrow 1-0 win over Bolton where the midfielder played 63 minutes before Andy Cannon’s winning goal.

Lee has subsequently missed the last two League One matches and has now taken to his social media account to provide an update following the incident.

Elliot Lee provides fitness update following road traffic accident

In a statement via his social media account, Lee has expressed his gratitude to the emergency services and for the love and support from his family and friends.

The statement read: “Last Tuesday night I found out just how fragile life is and in the blink of an eye, through no fault of your own, it has the potential to change drastically.

“Thankfully I had someone looking over me, but I’m well aware of how different the outcome could’ve been.

“It has been overwhelming to see how much people care and the love and support I have around me with my family and friends. It has been a tough week, but I’m feeling very lucky and very grateful.

“Thank you to the emergency services for all their help and for all the kind messages I have received, it means a lot. Hoping to be back on the pitch asap.”

Lee should start in midfield upon return to the side

Whilst Lee provided no clear timeframe to his return following the incident, the Wrexham midfield is in need of a player of his qualities.

George Dobson and Matty James are struggling to play together and Lee would provide the perfect balance to Parkinson’s midfield.

Lee was the hero last month when his last minute header secured three points at Crawley Town and the midfielder has scored eight goals in his 31 appearances this season.

It would be a welcome sight for all Red Dragons to see him back playing after his recovery and supporters will be hoping he can contribute at the business end of the campaign.
