The World Travel Market (WTM), the leading trade event for the global travel industry, has hired communications consultancy Davies Tanner following a three-way competitive pitch.
The Davies Tanner team’s brief is to develop and execute a b2b and b2c PR strategy to raise awareness of the event and increase attendance. The agency will also promote WTM’s exhibitors to international trade and consumer media through press office support.
The WTM account will be led by client services director Becca Krug and senior account director Evie Kennedy, with support from Davies Tanner’s agency brands including its consumer travel specialist agency The Audience, and its business events specialist agency, DT.
PRWeek UK understands that WTM previously handled its PR in-house.
Davies Tanner’s managing director, Robert Wright, said: “We’re so pleased to have been given this opportunity to work with such an iconic brand in travel and tourism, with a world-class event and team.
“This win also shows the creativity, tenacity and commitment of the Davies Tanner team in delivering cut-through campaigns for clients, and we’re looking forward to helping amplify the WTM brand and supporting the team in growing the event’s footprint and reputation as the travel industry’s most influential event.”
WTM is a global event for b2b travel and tourism for industry professionals to network and conduct business. In 2023, WTM welcomed more than 40,000 professionals from 184 countries to the trade event in London. WTM London 2024 will take place from 5-7 November at ExCeL London.
Juliette Losardo, exhibition director at WTM, added: “With WTM’s growing footprint and commitment to delivering value to major stakeholders, WTM has appointed communications agency, Davies Tanner, to support in the next phase of its evolution.
“Davies Tanner’s proposal demonstrated a deep understanding of the events sector and showcased their connections across the global travel industry – the combination of which will be invaluable as we work together towards achieving ambitious objectives.”
