The World Fitness Project (WFP) has just announced the dates and locations for its three competitions of its inaugural season. The 2025 WFP season will consist of two Tour Events following by the World Fitness Finals.
Ahead of today’s official announcement, rumors had been swirling that the competitions were going to be in May, September and December and that two would be in the United States while one would be in Europe. The rumors turned out to be close, but not exact.
Let’s take a look at the three competitions…
Tour Event 1
Indianapolis, IN USA
May 9-11
Tour Event 2
Phoenix-Mesa, AZ USA
August 29-31
World Fitness Finals
Copenhagen, Denmark
December 18-21
There has been a lot of discussion around the timing of the WFP events and how they might conflict with the CrossFit Games season. And those concerns were warranted as Tour Event 1 is on the same weekend at the French Throwdown, one of the In-Person Qualifying Events of the CrossFit Games season.
The French Throwdown does not have any regional restrictions, but it was assumed that most of the athletes vying for one of the two qualifying spots to the Games would be from Europe. Now athletes who have either signed a contract with the WFP or those who were considering to be a challenger must decide between the new WFP or the French Throwdown.
Tour Event 2 is at the end of August, likely just a few weeks after the CrossFit Games. We still don’t know the exact dates of the Games, but it will likely be a rather quick turnaround for those who will be trying to compete in both seasons. The good news is that Tour Event 2 does not directly conflict with any currently known competitions.
The same is true for the World Fitness Finals. Set for mid-December, the only other competition in December is the Dubai Fitness Championship which has historically been in early December every year.
But while we have the dates and cities, the actual venues have not yet been disclosed.
Pro Cards
Today’s announcement comes as the WFP is close to finalizing the 20 men and 20 women who have signed contracts for their “Pro card” this season. There are still two men and four women yet to be announced.
