RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women’s golf team is headed to Rocky Top for the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Tennessee beginning on Sunday.
The 54-hole tournament will be hosted at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. with 13 total teams including the Colonels competing including Charlotte, Kent State, Miami (FL), Georgia State, East Carolina, Middle Tennessee State, Chattanooga, Tennessee, East Tennessee, Memphis, Central Florida, and Campbell University.
“We are fortunate to be able to finish off our fall semester at the Mercedes Benz,” said head coach Mandy Moore. “It is a strong field on a great golf course. We hope to build on the small wins we had last week and end the fall on a high note.”
Competing for EKU will be Mary Keene Marrs, Karra Tucker, Claira Beth Ramsey, Imogen Jessen, and Dili Sitanonth.
Marrs will look to build on an impressive showing at the Lady Red Wolves Classic just a week ago where she finished tied for 12th at five-over with a final round score of one-under.
Her performance in Arkansas saw her national ranking improve by 117 spots.
Freshman Karra Tucker has shown promising signs early in her Colonel career with a scoring average (adj.) of 76.0 strokes through 11 rounds.
This will be EKU’s final competition of the Fall before returning to action on Feb. 11 at the BGSU Women’s Intercollegiate at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
