PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas. – The Coastal Carolina University women’s golf team shot a 31-over 315 in Saturday’s round at the White Sands Invitational to finish the round tied for ninth place at the Ocean Golf Club.
Freshman Aoife Devaney led the Chants in Saturday’s action, carding a six-over 77 (35-42) to finish the round tied for 23rd. Ella Murray (36-42) and Sara Sarrion (37-41) finished the day tied for 34th as each shot a seven-over 78.
Carolina Hortian enters Sunday’s final round tied for 51st after recording an 11-over 82 (41-41), while Varatkarn Kunkeaw (43-41) is tied for 56th with a 13-over 84. Isabella Spinazee (43-43) is playing as an individual and is 60th after shooting a 15-over 86.
Rain forced a cancellation of Friday’s first round and Purdue will go into Sunday’s final round at the top of the leaderboard with a seven-over 291. Only 11 shots separate the top five teams with Baylor standing second at 12-over 296, followed by Texas A&M at 14-over 298, and Missouri and Kansas tied for fourth with an 18-over 302.
Georgia carded a 22-over 306 to place sixth with Xavier at 23-over 307 in seventh and Abilene Christian eighth at 25-over 309. The College of Charleston is tied with CCU for ninth at 31-over 315.
