SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State women’s golf team will see its first action of the year as the team competes at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic (formerly Golfweek Conference Challenge). The three-day tournament will be Monday-Wednesday at Red Sky Ranch and Golf Club in Wolcott, Colo.

The Hornets are coming off a 2023-24 season which saw the team claim four tournament titles, including the Big Sky Championship. Sacramento State returns seven players from that team, including Big Sky Player of the Year Sneha Sharan and first team all-conference players Caitlin Maurice and Ella Kraft.

Sacramento State first competed at the Golfweek tournament in 2010 and then again in 2017, 2018 and 2019. The team’s best finish came in 2019 where it placed eighth out of 18 teams. Sofie Babic owns the best individual finish after she tied for 13th in 2018.

The Last Time at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic

Sacramento State finished in eighth place overall at 12-over par in the 18-team field. The team shot 291-294-291-876 over three days. Ole Miss cruised to the team title as the Rebels finished the tournament at 15-under par. Pepperdine was second at 7-under and was followed by UCLA (-5) in the top three. Nishtha Madan and Tess Blair tied for 20th place to lead the team with a 54-hole total of 218. Corinne Viden had the lowest round for the Hornets over the three days, carding a 67 in the final round.
