CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago begins their inaugural 2024-25 campaign in the Atlantic-10 Conference at the A-Ga-Ming Invitational in Kewadin, Michigan.
Their first tournament of the season will be held at the par-72, 6,000 yard Sundance Course at the A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort. Players are set to tee off with a shotgun start on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. (CT) and will play 36 holes continuously. The Event’s final 18 holes will be played on Labor Day with players teeing off again at 8:00 a.m. (CT).
The A-Ga-Ming Invitational is hosted by Central Michigan, and the rest of the 14-team field is filled out by Oakland (2023-24 Horizon League Champions), Purdue Fort Wayne, Niagara, Detroit Mercy, Western Michigan, Bellarmine, Northern Kentucky, Green Bay, Bowling Green, Ohio, Bradley, and Chicago State.
The 2023 A-Ga-Ming Invite was won as a team by Abilene Christian, who ended with a score of -3, while the tournament was won as an individual by Oakland’s Bridget Boczar with a score of -10.
Head Coach Brandy Johnston is back for her third season at Loyola, and after recording two wins as a team during the 2022-23 season, the team had a season-high finish of fourth place last year at the Brittany Kelly Classic and the team’s final MAAC Championship.
As a team, the Ramblers consist of six returning players and two incoming freshmen. Loyola’s lineup for the A-Ga-Ming Invitational will consist of senior duo Jolie Brochu and Cate Reisinger, sophomores Cassie Psuik and Grace Durkin, and freshman Madison Haugen, who will be making her Rambler debut. In addition, freshman Grace Hui will be playing this weekend as an individual.
Senior Jolie Brochu is coming off a career-best year, which saw her lower her scoring average by over two strokes to 78.0 and record her first career top-10 finish at the Loyola Invitational. 2022-23 MAAC All-Conference team performer Cate Reisinger enters her senior season after finishing last year with a 77.8 scoring average and two top-15 finishes.
Sophomore Cassie Psuik had an impressive freshman year where she recorded a 77.8 stroke average that helped her record two top-15 finishes and post a low round score of 66 at the Dayton Invitational. In her second season, Grace Durkin will look to improve upon her freshman-year stroke average of 79.5 and low round score of 75.
Next weekend, the team will head to Bloomington, Ill. for the Redbird Invitational hosted by Illinois State. In the 2022-23 season, Loyola finished third in the event out of 15 teams.
