ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland Women’s Golf is ready to return to the course as they get ready to hit the fairway for the first time this season.
The Golden Grizzlies will participate in the annual A-Ga-Ming Invite, hosted by Central Michigan University, in a two day event beginning on Sunday, Sept. 1. Oakland is looking to repeat last year’s success at the season-opening match, where the team placed second out of 13 teams, shooting 877 (+13) at the finish of the invitational. Oakland was led by now sophomore Olivia Hemmila who went +23, while Grace Boczar also finished in the top 30 at +13, with Nateda Her close behind in 32nd (+14).
Oakland is looking to keep a long streak of top-two finishes at the A-Ga-Ming, having placed second or higher in every year since 2021, the first year the program put their name into the event. The team’s last win at the invite came in 2022.
With a roster made up of all returners, the Golden Grizzlies look to begin a long road back to the Horizon League Championships as they look to repeat for the first time in program history.
