VIERA, Fla. – The Illinois State women’s golf team jumped out to an early team lead and has kept their spot at the top of the leaderboard through the end of the second round of the 2025 Columbia Classic, hosted at Duran Golf Club in Viera, Florida.
In addition to having the Redbirds lead as a team, graduate student-athlete Jinyoung Yun also is atop the leaderboard, and her 36-hole score of 140 is two strokes better than the next closest golfer in the field.
ISU’s two rounds of 288 and 294 give the team a 582, two strokes ahead of second-place Princeton’s 584. Seton Hall (594), Penn (597), and Dartmouth (599) round out the top five schools after two rounds in the tournament, with Boston University (604), Marshall (607), Emory (608), Columbia (609), Quinnipiac (613), Youngstown State (617), and Duquesne (643) round out the dozen schools in the tournament field.
Yun was under par for each of her rounds, opening with a one-under 71 before following with a three-under 69. She was the only player in the field to be under par over the first two rounds, and remains two strokes ahead of Catherine Rao, the 48th-ranked individual golfer in the country, with 18 holes remaining in the tournament.
Morgan Jones stands alone in 10th place after rounds of 72 and 74 for a 146, while Jessica Jolly carded rounds of 70 (-2) and 78, and with a 148 is tied for 12th.
Elise Fennell improved between the two rounds, opening with a four-over 76 in the opening round before coming back with a two-over 74 in the second round, and her 150 has her tied for 19th overall. Lory Paradis is tied for 28th in the 71-golfer field with a two-round 152 after rounds of 75 and 77.
The Redbirds, and the remainder of the field close play in the tournament with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start, as ISU will play the final 18 holes of the course alongside Princeton and Seton Hall in search of the team’s third title during the 2024-25 season.
