Ashland, OH. – The in region stretch of tournaments continued for Wheeling Women’s Golf as they headed to the Ashland Invitational on Monday. The Cardinals played 18 holes and while they didn’t post a team score, the threesome combined to shoot a 271 through 18 holes of play. They had two golfers crack the top 50 of the event as they look to continue lowering their score on day two.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was senior Nicole Lincicome, who finished tied for 45th with an 89 on the day. She was consistent throughout the day, shooting a +8 on the front nine and +9 on the back nine. After going +2 on hole one, Lincicome would come back with back-to-back pars on holes two and three. She would finish with three pars and four bogeys on the front nine to sit at +8. She started the back nine strong, shooting par on hole 10 and added three more pars before the day was over. One of those pars came on the final hole of the day as she looks to use that momentum heading into day two of the event.
The other Cardinal to crack the top 50 of the event was Ella Keffer, who finished tied for 48th. Keffer would shoot a 90 on the day and finished with seven pars across the 18 holes. Keffer had a +8 on the front nine, shooting four pars including shooting par on three of the final four holes. Keffer has been consistent for the Cardinals throughout the season and looks to bounce back on day two. Brielle Milhoan would finish the day, shooting a 92 through 18 holes. Her biggest showing of the day would come on the back nine, where she shot a +8 and had three of her five pars on the day. Milhoan has led the Cardinals in three of their five rounds so far this season and looks to bounce back on day two.
Day two of the Ashland Invitational kicks off on Tuesday, September 24th, when the second round tees off at around 9 AM.
