University of Missouri women’s golf opens the spring season Sunday, competing at the Westbrook Invitational in Arizona.
TOURNAMENT INFO
The tournament is slated for Sunday and Monday with the 14-team field opening play on Sunday morning with a 9:30 a.m. CT shotgun start. The teams are scheduled to play 36 holes on Sunday before wrapping up the tournament with 18 holes on Monday.
Joining the Tigers at the tournament are No. 25 Kansas, No. 30 Kansas State, No. 35 UNLV, No. 50 Minnesota, Chattanooga, Colorado State, Louisiana-Monroe, Nebraska, Penn State, Sam Houston, South Florida, Washington State and Wisconsin.
The tournament will be held at Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Arizona, measuring 6,248 yards on a par-72 course.
RANKINGS UPDATE
Missouri enters the spring season with a No. 61 national ranking, on pace for its best finish in years. The Tigers have nearly cut their national ranking in half in just three seasons as the team placed 120th in 2021-22, 89th in 2022-23 and 79th in 2023-24.
FALL RECAP
The Tigers competed in five tournaments during the fall season, placing in the top five at three of the five tournaments. In the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational, Mizzou’s second-place finish included three individual golfers in the top-10 and five in the top-20. Junior Melanie Walker led the team with a three-under second-place finish individually.
Senior Ffion Tynan led the team with a 74-stroke average and placed top-five in the Johnie Imes, marking a collegiate best finish following a one-under 71 to close.
Juniors Addie Dobson and Jade Zamora both recorded career-low 54-hole scores at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational. Zamora is on pace for a career-low season stroke average, following a top-10 finish (215). Dobson carded a career-low 217 to finish in a career-first top-10.
Additionally, Fleur van Beek added three top-10 finishes as an individual and freshman Alexandra Berglund shot a one-under 71 at the Blessings Collegiate, marking the first of her collegiate career.
