WOLCOTT, Colo. — Three Little Rock golfers were under par Wednesday in the final round of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, helping the Trojans earn their third straight Top 10 finish in as many events this season. Little Rock improved by 16 strokes from the previous day and finished seventh with scores of 289-302-286 (13-over 877).
“Another strong week for the ladies. Colorado and the Red Sky Golf Club is usually a course we haven’t played well in the past so to have two great days with multiple rounds under par was great. The second day is always a test for us with pin locations and green speeds, so it wasn’t surprising we struggled. But with this young team it was great to watch and see how they are progressing and developing each week.” — Little Rock head coach Jenna Birch
Little Rock finished just 10 strokes out of the Top 5 as Kansas (-15) took the team title. Eleonore Aernouts (-3), Anna Dawson (-3), and Kathrine Vynne (-2) all carded rounds under 72 Wednesday. Dawson totaled six birdies during the final 18 holes, Aernouts made five, and Vynne dropped in three to go with an eagle late in the round.
Vynne finished under par in all three rounds, finishing fourth overall on the individual leaderboard with a final score of 7-under. Aernouts finished 14th overall and 1-under for the tournament. Dawson (+4) finished 32nd, while Fehild Graesel and Elvira Flodstrom were 22-over and 23-over, respectively.
Little Rock will have 10 days off before returning to competition Oct. 14-15 at the Lady Red Wolves Classic in Jonesboro. The Trojans host the Diamante Intercollegiate in Hot Springs on Oct. 20-22.
