LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Central Arkansas women’s golf team played two rounds on Monday, opening the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational in fifth after 36 holes of golf.
Valeria Ramirez closed the day in tenth place, playing a 3-under 69 in round one and a 75 in round two. She tallied seven birdies on the day, and sits just a few shots outside the top-five. Madison Holmes also had a first round score under par, playing her way to a 71 to start the day before finishing with a 75. She sits in 15th after day one, with five birdies to her name.
Emma Leroy Fabry played back-to-back rounds of 75 on Monday, with four total birdies across the 36 holes. She ended the day just outside of the top-25 with a two-round score of 150. Camila Negroni penciled in five birdies on the day, including four in the second round. She sits two strokes behind Fabry at a 152. Ayami Takahashi improved from round one to round two, and tallied a birdie in each round as she played her way to a 164.
Kansas, the host school, leads the field by 15 strokes entering the final round on Tuesday. Kent State is in second place, with Missouri in third. Individually, there is a five-way tie for first place, with all five golfers at a 5-under 139 after two rounds. Kansas has three players tied at the top spot, with Kent State and Missouri each having one golfer vying for the individual medal.
