SARTELL, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team began competition for the 2024 season at the Saint Benedict Invitational, with sophomore Riley Zebroski leading the charge on day one.
St. Catherine leads the field with a plus-20 at Blackberry Ridge, while the Gusties are in seventh as a team.
Zebroski shot a 78 in round one to set herself up for fourth in a talented conference field, picking up a pair of birdies on day one. Maren Masters sits in 31st for the next bes place for the team, followed by Lauren Hubbart in 44th.
“This wasn’t the result we wanted to have on our first day,” said Head Coach Scott Moe. “There’s certainly plenty of things to learn from. Our course management and putting will be better tomorrow and we are excited for another opportunity. Great round by Riley today in windy conditions.”
Zebroski was certainly the Gustie star of the day for the Gusties. “I was happy to start off the fall season strong with a 78,” the sophomore said. “Weather was great and mental game was strong today. Glad to be back with the team and excited for the rest of the fall!”
The team continues competition tomorrow in the invitational.
