FINDLAY, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican Panthers women’s golf team took on a number of regional opponents in the William Beall Fall Classic this week. The Panthers were one of 17 teams that took to the links at Findlay Country Club on Monday (Sept. 30) and Tuesday (Oct. 1).
Ohio Dominican wrapped up the 54-hole event in 16th place of the 18 teams. The Panthers totaled 953 for three rounds, shooting scores of 309, 318 and 326.
Freshman Maria Briceno Vargas had the top finish for the Black and Gold, tying for 46th place. She started the event with her best round, a 5-over 77 and followed it up with 7-over 79 and 6-over 78. Overall, Briceno Vargas was 234 (+18) in her 54-hole debut at the collegiate level.
Juniors Sydney Devore and Caroline Tragesser were tied for 67th place with a 239 (+23) final score. Devore shot rounds of 6-over 78, 8-over 80 and 9-over 81 while Tragesser scored 4-over 76, 8-over 80 and 83.
Senior Ellyn Deibel was two strokes behind Devore and Tragesser in 72nd place. Deibel set a career-low with a 241 (+25) overall tally. Her first two rounds on Monday were 6-over 78 and 7-over 79. She rounded out the tourney with an 84 in the third round.
Freshman Brooklyn Numbers competed in her second event this season, scoring a 267. She had a best round of 86 and shot 88 and 93 in her other two rounds.
Ohio Dominican will travel to the Keystone State for the Gannon Michael Corbett Fall Classic next week.
