The Hope College women’s basketball team picked up their second win in as many days, after a 64-45 win over Wittenberg at the Holiday Classic Tournament in Springfield, Ohio.
The nationally-ranked Flying Dutch held their opponent under 50 points for the fifth time this season, improving to 10-2 overall (2-0 MIAA).
Wittenberg and Hope traded the lead five different times in the first two quarters before being deadlocked at twenty points.
An 11-point run at the end of the second quarter put Hope ahead for good. The unchallenged run included two three-pointers, one from junior Sydney Vis (Byron Center, Michigan / South Christian HS) and one from the hands of freshman Anna Richards (DeWitt, Michigan / Lansing Christian).
Hope was led by senior Olivia Bellows (Lake City, Michigan / Lake City) with 15 points.
Senior Jada Garner (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow) added 12 points in the win.
Senior center Courtney Lee chipped in 7 points and a game-high nine rebounds for Hope.
Hope is back in action in the new year, renewing The Rivalry, on the road at Calvin University on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 3 p.m.
