A woman was shot in the face Sunday night in the parking lot of a Hoover shopping center.
The shooting happened about 9 p.m. at Village of Lee Branch on Doug Baker Boulevard, near Panera Bread.
Hoover police Capt. Keith Czeskleba said the woman was conscious and alert, and talking with officers before she was taken to the hospital.
Czeskleba said one person has been detained but investigators are working to determine the involvement of that person, if any.
Police said it is too early to confirm the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
