Carlos Alcaraz successfully defended his Wimbledon title as he made easy work of veteran Novak Djokovic in the final, defeating him 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (4) in straight sets. The Wimbledon champion was unstoppable on the field, however, he looked clueless during the familiar tradition. For the unversed, Men’s Wimbledon champion shakes a leg with the women’s champion at the end of the tournament.
Alcaraz looked visibly nervous as he danced with women’s champion Barbora Krejcikova, who defeated Jasmine Paolini to win the women’s singles, the video of which went viral on social media.
This was Alcaraz’s fourth Grand Slam title in a very young career. The 21-year-old has been on fire, winning three out of the last five Majors, and looks set to rule the Tennis world for the next few years. Alcaraz, however, said he is not focussing too much on the future and wants to enjoy the moment.
“I don’t know what is my limit. I don’t want to think about it. I just want to keep enjoying my moment, just to keep dreaming. So let’s see if at the end of my career it’s going to be 25, 30, 15, four (Slams). I don’t know. All I want to say is I want to keep enjoying and let’s see what the future brings to me,” he said after the win.
Carlos Alcaraz also had great words to say for veteran Novak Djokovic. “I’m still believing that Novak is Superman because what he has done this tournament with a surgery just a few weeks before the tournament began,” he said.
“It is amazing. It is unbelievable. Honestly, as I said on court, I was talking to my team that the work that Novak has done has been unbelievable,” concluded Alcaraz.
