Bronny James is set to miss out on the Los Angeles Lakers‘ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves as he continues his recovery process outlined by team doctors.
The rookie has not set foot on the court since he managed 26 minutes with the South Bay Lakers in the G League on November 17; medical examinations are carrying on as he recovers and he will be re-evaluated in a week.
The injury, a left heel contusion, has seen him sit out the past number of games, with James Jr inactive in six games from November 19 to 29. He hasn’t appeared in an NBA game since November 10 against the Toronto Raptors.
“Bronny James’ left heel contusion was examined by team doctors Friday, per the Lakers,” ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported. “It was determined to be healing, and Bronny will begin his ramp-up process, with plans to be re-evaluated in a week.”
James has racked up a total of four points, two assists, one rebound and one steal in 16 minutes across six appearances with Los Angeles this season. As for his on-court stats, James is averaging five points, three assists, 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and one block on 21.1% shooting from the field over two games with South Bay.
The Lakers also have to deal with the absence of Hayes (ankle sprain), Vanderbilt (foot surgery) and Wood (knee surgery). D’Angelo Russell is a doubt while a decision on Reaves’ fitness will be made closer to the time. Only Joe Ingles is out for the Timberwolves.
This season, the Los Angeles Lakers sit 6th in the Western Conference after 20 games so far in the division.
