The high school winter season has seen some great performances over break.

There were plenty of great performances across many sports and schools in the Holland area.

Who had the best performance? Vote for the top athlete of the week. Voting will go until noon Friday each week.

LAST WEEK’S WINNER: Arthur Powell, Holland basketball

Here is a little more about each candidate:

Hannah Stroebe, Zeeland West basketball

Dux forward scored 11 points and helped defensively in a dominating win over rival Zeeland West.

Adelynn Nyhof, Holland Christian basketball

Maroons wing scored 16 points, including four 3-pointers to lead Holland Christian to a rivalry win over Hamilton.

Riley VanDerHulst, Hamilton basketball

Hawkeyes wing player came off the bench to score a game-high 19 points in a dominating win over rival Holland Christian.

BJ Walker, Zeeland East basketball

Chix guard had 24 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Holland on Friday, then was in double figures again in a win over Zeeland West on Saturday.

Emily Wierenga, Zeeland East basketball

Chix center headed to Northern Michigan had 16 points in an OK Black win over Holland on Friday.

Basilio Ledesma, Holland Christian swimming

The senior swimmer won both of his individual events to lead the Maroons to the Legacy Trophy win over Grand Rapids Christian. The meet honors the late Riley Hoeksema.
