OXFORD — After getting a win to open SEC play, Ole Miss basketball was rewarded slightly in the polls.
The Rebels are No. 22 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll, up from No. 23 last week.
Ole Miss beat Georgia 63-51 on Dec. 4 in their SEC opener. Coach Chris Beard shook up the starting lineup against the Bulldogs by putting guard Davon Barnes in.
The win was a nice turnaround for the Rebels, who were beaten handily at Memphis in the final game before SEC play. Ole Miss lost 87-70 at Memphis on Dec. 28 in a game that had Beard concerned about rebounding.
Ole Miss travels to play at Arkansas on Jan. 8 (6 p.m., ESPN2).
