If you’re a head coach new to a school and to a conference, where do you and your new staff begin when it’s time to recruit? It’s a loaded question, and West Virginia has a loaded answer.
The Mountaineers have already offered players in the Class of 2025 who play in California, Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, Indiana, Maryland, the District of Columbia, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Arizona, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Utah and West Virginia.
“A lot of it is just our connections, where we’ve recruited before, new connections and even your connections know people from different places,” first-year coach Darian DeVries said. “We’re recruiting coast-to-coast. We’ve been out of the West Coast quite a bit here the last couple of weeks. We’ve been on the East Coast myself here recently. We’re going anywhere we can to kind of put our blueprint out there for recruits and trying to do everything we can to cast as wide a net as possible to cover everything.”
