Nate Oats has lost the last three meetings against Rick Barnes and the Volunteers.

On Alabama’s Final Four run, Tennessee took down the Crimson Tide in both matchups, its most recent win an 81-74 defeat that led to UA’s crushing loss at Florida on route to making program history.

Tennessee started the 2024-25 season ranked 12th in the country and has since climbed to No. 6 entering Week 16 of college basketball. Before the loss to Kentucky and a close one against Vanderbilt for the Volunteers, Tennessee and Alabama were among the nation’s top four teams for the first two editions of the Coaches Poll in February.
