Mount Union football fans will have to wait until 2025 to see the Purple Raiders in action again.
Mount Union advanced to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl last weekend by beating Johns Hopkins 45-37 in Alliance. That win propelled the Purple Raiders to their 23rd NCAA Football Division III title game.
The Purple Raiders went 10-0 in the regular season this year and have played two tight games and a road game in the playoffs to reach the championship showdown.
Since 1993 Mount Union has won the title a staggering 13 times. Here’s what to know about the 2024 Stagg Bowl:
Who is Mount Union football playing in the Stagg Bowl?
The Purple Raiders will face North Central (IL) for the NCAA Division III national title. This is the fifth year in a row that North Central has been in the title game.
The Cardinals have won two titles, including in a 2022 against Mount Union.
Where is the 2024 Stagg Bowl taking place?
This year’s game is taking place at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas. The stadium, which has a capacity of 20,656, is home to the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer and the Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League.
Next year the game will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.
