The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team marks the start of ACC play with a showdown against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on New Year’s Eve (12/31/2024) at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York.

Syracuse is 6-6 headed into the conference portion of the season, and already 0-1 in the ACC thanks to a 69-64 loss to Notre Dame earlier this month. But the Orange are looking at the start of conference play as a fresh start, and they are hoping to carry the momentum from their 75-63 win over Bucknell into their game on Tuesday.

Syracuse got double-doubles from Eddie Lampkin (18 points, 11 rebounds) and Donnie Freeman (15 points, 11 rebounds) in the win over Bucknell. The Orange used a full-court press to help force 17 Bucknell turnovers and converted those opportunities into 20 points.

Now, Syracuse squares off with a 9-4 Wake Forest team that has already earned its first ACC win of the season. But the Demon Deacons are coming off a 73-62 loss to the Clemson Tigers on December 21.
