Penn State football players showcase their talents ahead of 2024 NFL Draft
Top players, including Chop Robinson, Olu Fashanu and Theo Johnson, put their skills on display for NFL scouts inside Holuba Hall Friday morning.
Five former Penn State football players, including a couple of possible Top 10 draft picks, are attending this week’s annual NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
But not all of them expect to work out and test in front of pro personnel.
Defensive end Abdul Carter and tight end Tyler Warren headline a Penn State combine contingent that also includes linebacker Kobe King and safeties Jaylen Reed and KJ Winston.
However, Carter, the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, will forgo on-field drills today as he recovers from a shoulder injury suffered during the College Football Playoff. While Carter will not participate in position drills, he is expected to go through medical tests and interview with the NFL’s 32 teams.
Rather, he plans to do all of his workouts and testing at Penn State’s annual Pro Day in late March. This could be a similar situation for Winston, who suffered a knee injury last summer and only played in Penn State’s first two games. His recovery and Friday workout status in Indianapolis is still unclear.
Meanwhile, a strong Friday workout performance from Warren could help solidify him as a Top 10 draft pick in April and one of the highest tight ends ever selected.
Five former Nittany Lions will be featured at this year’s combine: defensive end Abdul Carter, tight end Tyler Warren, linebacker Kobe King and safeties KJ Winston and Jaylen Reed.
Defensive linemen and linebackers will start on-field workouts in Lucas Oil Stadium at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Defensive backs and tight ends begin their workouts at 3 p.m. Friday.
The weekend is reserved for quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs (Saturday, 1 p.m.) and offensive linemen (Sunday, 1 p.m.)
The NFL Combine can be viewed on the NFL Network and streamed through Fubo (free trial).
Penn State’s annual Pro Day, where former players go through workouts and on-field testing in front of NFL personnel, will be March 28. It will be held in Holuba Hall.
