Brooklyn’s Jalen Wilson was named MVP of the Las Vegas Summer League, but his second-year Nets teammate Noah Clowney was every bit as impressive in his own way.
Clowney — who turned 20 while in Las Vegas — is still one of the youngest players in the NBA. But he has a chance to be one of the more improved as well, when all the work he’s put in this offseason meets all the opportunity provided by Brooklyn’s rebuild this upcoming regular season.
“It’s an opportunity [for me], so I can’t [waste it],” Clowney said. “To see us going into more of a rebuilding standpoint … I’ve got to try to take advantage of that.”
League analysts called Clowney one of the best players at summer league. He’s always had the potential to be an elite defensive player, but has spent the offseason working on both his strength and his shooting.
