What is the biggest Boston Celtics win of the 2024 NBA offseason? If you ask Bleacher Report league analyst Dan Favale his opinion on the matter, there is little doubt in his mind. Speaking in a recent article put together to survey the entire Association on such matters, Favale shared that the Celtics’ biggest offseason coup had everything to do with one half of the Boston Stock Exchange.
We are of course talking about the Celtics backcourt duo of Jrue Holiday and Derrick White, with the latter’s recent team-friendly contract extension the most remarkable victory for Boston since they won Banner 18 at TD Garden. “Offering White a four-year, $118 million extension is never something the Boston Celtics needed to think about,” writes Favale.
“Second-apron realities and all, you lock him down for that price tag and figure out the rest later.”
“Another team could have given him four years and close to $200 million next summer,” adds the B/R NBA analyst.
“Even at a time when organizations are skewing spendthrifty on non-stars, a then-31-year-old White likely winds up with that kind of market. Getting him on this deal is a massive W for the Celtics.”
