Swampcast breaks down Florida football, Florida basketball vs No. 1 Tennessee
The Sun’s Kevin Brockway and Noah Ram discuss Florida football’s offseason and break down the UF-UT basketball matchup with Blue Ribbon Magazine editor Chris Dortch.
Florida basketball gets another significant SEC test on the road when plays Saturday afternoon at Arkansas.
The No. 8 Florida Gators (14-1, 1-1 SEC) are coming off a 73-43 win over Tennessee, their first over a No. 1 team in program history and most lopsided win against a No. 1 team since UCLA knocked off Houston 101-69 in the 1968 Final Four.
With the win, Florida improved to 54-30 in three seasons under head coach Todd Golden.
“It was an incredible win,” Florida basketball coach Todd Golden said. “Obviously a great program-building win, speaks volumes about where we are at and how good our guys are playing. But if we’re in April and we’re talking about our win against Tennessee in January, like we haven’t done what we want to do.”
Arkansas (11-4, 0-2 SEC) has lost its first two conference games of the season under first-year coach John Calipari. Florida is 1-1 in true road games this season, with a win at Florida State and a loss in its SEC opener at Kentucky. The Gators are 27-15 all-time against Arkansas but only 7-10 against the Razorbacks at their home gym, Bud Walton Arena.
“It’s always been hard in college basketball to go on the road and be successful, but I think this league, this season is even more difficult that way,” Golden said. “Going on the road to Arkansas, obviously 0-2, but very talented and a very good team, is going to be a really big challenge for us.”
Florida and Arkansas are slated to tip off at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday from Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Ark. (capacity 19,200).
Florida and Arkansas will air on ESPN and stream on WatchESPN.com. Karl Ravech will handle play-by-play duties for the game, with Jimmy Dykes as the color analyst.
Per FanDuel, Florida is a 5.5-point favorite over Arkansas. The over/under is 155.5 points.
The Florida-Arkansas game will air on AM 850 and FM 98.1 in Gainesville and across the state on the Gator Radio Network. Sean Kelley will handle play-by-play duties, with former Gator great Lee Humphrey as the color analyst.
