The Kansas City Chiefs host the New Orleans Saints on Monday night to conclude Week 5 of the NFL season.
The two-time defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs are undefeated, but all four of their victories have been close as quarterback Patrick Mahomes has found ways to win. The Saints are on a two-game losing streak that have dropped them to 2-2, but when they’ve been good they’ve been outstanding.
The Chiefs are comfortable 5 1/2-point favorites, more than home field is worth, so they are expected to win.
The NFL Week 5 Monday Night Football game is between the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
The Saints at Chiefs game will be on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes.
The Saints at Chiefs game is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. MT/7:15 p.m. CT.
Joe Buck (play-by-play) and Troy Aikman (analyst) will be the announcers. Lisa Salters will be on the sideline.
The Chiefs are a 5-point favorite over the Saints in NFL Week 5 odds for the game, courtesy of BetMGM Sportsbook. Kansas City is -225 on the moneyline, while New Orleans is +180. The over/under (point total) is set at 42 points.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints will be without Taysom Hill for the second game in a row, but managing his loss is not as challenging as those on the offensive line. Center Erik McCoy is on IR with a groin injury, and the guy stepping in for him, Shane Lemieux is out again with an ankle injury.
New Orleans is also having issues with the interior of the line. Right guard Cesar Ruiz (knee) will be out for the second week in a row, and there is a good chance left guard Lucas Patrick (ankle) could sit as well. That leaves the Saints with the tackles, rookie Taliese Fuaga and Trevor Penning, as the only Week 1 starters on the offensive line heading into tonight’s game. Fuaga has been dealing with knee and back injuries but should play.
Kansas City Chiefs
Marquise Brown has yet to play after getting injured during the preseason. Clyde Edwards-Helaire started the season on the PUP list. Isiah Pacheco has been out since suffering a fibula injury in Week 2. Rashee Rice is out with a knee injury and it’s still not clear how much time he will miss.
Bookies.com: Bet the Saints with the points vs Chiefs
Bill Speros writes: “The Saints march into Arrowhead Stadium to face the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, a few billion Swifties, and the full might of the NFL Headquarters at 345 Park Avenue. The Chiefs tend to avoid large covers at home. Namely because Mahomes is constantly having to find new targets each week. Andy Reid is always happy to take the ‘W’ and move on to next week.”
