Louisville basketball ends the regular season today with a game against ACC newcomer Stanford at the KFC Yum! Center.
Pat Kelsey‘s No. 13 Cardinals (24-6, 17-2) have already clinched the largest one-year turnaround and most successful run through conference play in program history. But, as outlined by statiscian Kelly Dickey on X, formerly Twitter, they need to beat the Cardinal (19-11, 11-8) to secure at least the No. 2 seed in next week’s ACC Tournament.
Led by first-year coach Kyle Smith, who spent the past five seasons at Washington State, Stanford is coming off a 56-54 loss Wednesday at Notre Dame. Entering the weekend, the Cardinal was fifth in the ACC standings and projected to be the No. 7 seed in the conference tournament after the tiebreakers at the top of the table shake out.
U of L owns a 2-0 record against Stanford. The last time these programs met was March 15, 2007, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Lexington’s Rupp Arena. The sixth-seeded Cards cruised to a 78-58 victory.
Here’s what you need to know to follow today’s game from home:
U of L and Stanford are scheduled to tip off at 2 p.m. today inside the Yum! Center.
