Louisville basketball: Pat Kelsey on win over Boston College, Chucky Hepburn
Louisville Cardinals basketball coach Pat Kelsey discusses the team’s 84-58 win over Boston College without injured point guard Chucky Hepburn.
The dog days of ACC play roll on for Louisville basketball, with or without starting point guard Chucky Hepburn.
Pat Kelsey on Friday was unsure if Hepburn will be cleared to take the court for the Cardinals (17-6, 10-2) today against last-place Miami (5-17, 1-10) at the KFC Yum! Center after the senior floor general injured his groin and sat out the final 15 minutes and change of Wednesday’s win at Boston College. Terrence Edwards Jr. will assume the position if he can’t go.
There will be some familiar faces in the house: Members of U of L’s 2004-05 team, who ended a 19-year Final Four drought, will be in attendance to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their “March to the Arch.” Kelsey told reporters Friday that Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino has “something up his sleeve to make sure he’s connected” to the festivities despite being tied up with his second season at St. John’s.
U of L holds a 14-8 advantage in the all-time series against the Hurricanes but has lost four of the past five meetings. The last time these programs played, stellar performances from Brandon Huntley-Hatfield and Mike James powered the first road victory of the Kenny Payne era.
Led by interim coach Bill Courtney, who was called upon when Jim Larrañaga abruptly stepped down the day after Christmas, Miami had the week off after snapping a 10-game skid with a 63-57 win over Notre Dame on Feb. 1. Dating back to Nov. 21, the Hurricanes are 2-17.
Here’s what you need to know to follow today’s game from home:
U of L and Miami are scheduled to tip off at 2 p.m. today inside the Yum! Center.
