Iowa women’s basketball’s West Coast journey continues against Washington. The Hawkeyes face the Huskies for the first time as Big Ten rivals.
While only halfway through the conference season, this may be one of the most important matchups of the year for both programs.
Iowa is on a five-game losing streak, needing to win just about every Big Ten game left if it wants to finish above .500. After a strong start in the Jan Jenson era, the Hawkeyes are at risk of missing out on the postseason. It’s never too late, though, and for a team this talented, things can flip in the blink of an eye. Each of the last five losses has come within eight points, so Iowa is hanging in there.
Meanwhile, the Huskies are vying for their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2017. They need to remain in the top half of the Big Ten for Tina Langley to get it done in her third season at the helm. It won’t come easy, but taking down Iowa is the first step.
