Wegmans recently shot an ace with its annual fundraising endeavor, the Golf Fundraising Celebration.
The fundraiser was held recently at the Chautauqua Institution lake course.
According to Danielle Stone, learning and development coordinator for Wegmans, the fundraiser this year earned more than $21,600 and was split between the United Ways of Chautauqua County and Erie, Pa.
“Our employees know that every single dollar stays local and provides someone a chance at a better tomorrow. Making a difference in our communities is something we at Wegmans all hold close to our hearts, and now more than ever, we’re reminded of the difference good people coming together can make,” said Stone. “Thirty-eight teams of Wegmans employees, family, and local vendors teed off at Chautauqua (Institution) Lake Golf Course this year.”
Stone said that local vendors and dozens of local businesses contributed in so many ways, donated products, raffle baskets, gift cards, hole sponsors, and some incredible prizes. Wegmans couldn’t have the success it does for this event without their help.
“The United Way and Wegmans in Jamestown have such a special relationship, and the team here wants to thank Amy Rohler and her team for their support over the last year to make this event happen,” said Stone.
The donation will have an impact countywide after the merger earlier this year of the north and south county United Ways.
“We are so appreciative of our partnership with Wegmans and the time and energy they spend to organize events such as the annual golf tournament,” said Amy Rohler, United Ways of Chautauqua County executive director. “The money raised from this event goes to support critical programs in Chautauqua and Erie counties, allowing us to make a lasting, positive impact in the lives of individuals and families in our community. The commitment of Wegmans and their employees exemplifies the power of working together toward a common goal, and we are proud to continue building a stronger community with their help.”
