Big Evs worked at Del Mar on Wednesday morning ahead of his start in Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.
The 3-year-old colt trained by Michael Appleby won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint last year. He has gone 2-for-2 since, with victories in the Westow Stakes and Group 2 King George. Most recently, he was eighth in the Nunthorpe (G1).
He worked four furlongs on turf in 49.8 seconds Wednesday, the fastest of three at the distance.
Big Evs was one of seven graded-stakes winners with published works Wednesday morning.

It was the fastest of three works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed eighth in the Nunthorpe Stakes (G1) going five furlongs on the turf at York on Aug. 23 for trainer Michael Appleby.
Musical Mischief (Into Mischief), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Locust Grove), worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds at Churchill Downs on Wednesday morning. It was the 13th fastest of 44 works at the distance. Her previous work was 12 days ago going five furlongs at Churchill Downs. It was the 38th fastest of 44 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he won an allowance race going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Sept. 25 for trainer Bret Calhoun.
