Bentornato breezed four furlongs in 48.35 seconds Wednesday morning at Palm Meadows, Gulfstream Park’s satellite training facility in Palm Beach County, in preparation for a planned start in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint on Nov. 2 at Del Mar.

The 3-year-old son of Valiant Minister worked for the first time since capturing the Gallant Bob (G2) at Parx on Sept. 21.

“It looked good to me. It was a very consistent and solid workout,” trainer Jose D’Angelo said. “I’m planning one more workout here before he ships to California.’

Bentornato will accompany D’Angelo-trained Howard Wolowitz, the Franklin-Simpson (G1) winner who is being pointed to the Nov. 2 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, on a cross-county flight Oct. 19.

Bentornato, who won two of the three legs of the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes series last year, launched his 2024 campaign with a third-place finish behind Japanese star Forever Young in the Feb. 24 Saudi Derby (G3). He finished second after a wide trip in the Aug. 23 Robert Hilton at Charles Town before breaking through with his first graded-stakes victory in the six-furlong Gallant Bob, in which he was involved in a race-long duel before prevailing by a neck.

Bentornato was one of 10 graded-stakes winners with published works Wednesday.

Bentornato (Valiant Minister), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Gallant Bob), worked four furlongs in 48.3 seconds at Palm Meadows on Wednesday morning. It was the third fastest of 15 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Gallant Bob (G2) going six furlongs on the main track at Parx Racing on Sept. 21 for trainer Jose D’Angelo.

Intricate (Gun Runner), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Golden Rod), worked five furlongs in 1:01.8 at Keeneland on Wednesday morning. It was the 10th fastest of 20 works at the distance. Her previous work was 11 days ago going five furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start she placed fifth in the Alabama (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 17 for trainer Brendan Walsh.

Law Professor (Constitution), a Grade 2 winner (2021 Santa Anita Mathis Mile), worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Belmont Park on Wednesday morning. It was the 27th fastest of 58 works at the distance. His previous work was 10 days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park. In his last start he placed seventh in the Lake Ouachita going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Oaklawn on May 5 for trainer Wade Rarick.

Papilio (Starspangledbanner), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Appalachian), worked four furlongs in 49.7 seconds at Belmont Park on Wednesday morning. It was the 12th fastest of 58 works at the distance. Her previous work was 11 days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park. In her last start she placed fifth in the Jeff Ruby One Dreamer going one mile and 70 yards on the turf at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 5 for trainer Mark Casse.

Post Time (Frosted), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Carter), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Fair Hill on Wednesday morning. It was the fastest of six works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Fair Hill. In his last start he won the Polynesian going one mile on the main track at Laurel Park on Sept. 14 for trainer Brittany Russell.

Scaramouche (Munnings), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Gallant Bob), worked four furlongs in 47.6 seconds at Parx Racing on Wednesday morning. It was the fastest of 44 works at the distance. His previous work was 20 days ago going four furlongs at Parx Racing. In his last start he placed seventh in the State Representative’s Sprint going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Parx Racing on Aug. 24 for trainer Guadalupe Preciado.

Bo Cruz (Creative Cause), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Commonwealth), worked three furlongs in 37.0 seconds at Churchill Downs on Wednesday morning. It was the fastest of five works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going three furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he won the Commonwealth (G3) going seven furlongs on the main track at Keeneland on April 6 for trainer Al Stall Jr.

Mo Stash (Mo Town), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Transylvania), worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Keeneland on Wednesday morning. It was the fastest of three works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed ninth in the Turf Sprint (G2) going six furlongs on the turf at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 7 for trainer Vicki Oliver.
