PISCATAWAY, N.J. – It may not be a tailspin, but Rutgers basketball has lost three games in a row following Thursday night’s 68-50 loss to No. 20 Purdue. A season of expectation for the Scarlet Knights and head coach Steve Pikiell has now given way to serious concerns about making the postseason.
An absolutely brutal first half gave way to a second half where Rutgers showed more energy on both ends of the court. But it simply wasn’t enough as the Scarlet Knights have now dropped three straight games.
Rutgers was just 7-of-22 from the floor in the first half. The poor scoring coupled with 12 turnovers in the first half and Rutgers was only in the game due to the individual brilliance of Ace Bailey.
The forward, a former five-star recruit, led Rutgers with 17 points.
Here is what Pikiell had to say following his team’s loss to No. 20 Purdue.
