Maye, who was selected third overall by the Patriots in this year’s draft, kept the ball on an option play in the red zone and was able to find an opening in the defense. He took the ball in uncontested for his first career score.

The young QB started the contest against the Eagles as the Patriots’ backup behind starter Jacoby Brissett. Entering the game in the second quarter, he was quite efficient with the football: in his first 16 snaps over two drives, he completed five of seven passes for 47 yards while leading New England to a field goal and his touchdown; he also gained 10 yards on two carries.

The Patriots went up 10-3 over the Eagles thanks to his score.
