Kate Middleton may have had to take a backseat to royal life as she underwent chemotherapy to treat her cancer, but the time away from the spotlight hasn’t cause her to forget some the pomp and circumstance of the British monarchy.
Middleton, alongside Prince William met with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and his wife Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim al-Thani on December 3, first seeing the couple at a private residence before traveling together by car to the Horse Guards parade.
King Charles later met the British royals at the Horse Guard parade, where he, alongside Middleton and William, would watch the ceremony take place. Upon seeing Charles, Middleton tucked her left foot behind her right and hit a perfect curtsy as a sign of respect to the reigning monarch, even though behind closed doors, he is her father-in-law. The sweet moment was caught on video by journalist Chris Ship, who shared the clip to X.
The party of five—which Queen Camilla was notably absent from due to her ongoing illness—continued their procession to the event, with Middleton walking behind Charles, William, and their pair of guests.
Now that Middleton is feeling better and making a return to royal life, she is taking on more engagements—a list that continues to grow as Camilla recovers from her chest infection and pneumonia. After the welcoming and Horse Guards parade, Middleton joined Charles for a special luncheon with the Emir.
“The Princess is feeling positive about the future and very much looking forward to representing the royal family at the state visit and beyond,” a source told The Mirror prior to the Emir’s arrival. “Her work has always been a great tonic to her as she continues to concentrate on her recovery moving forward to the end of the year and beyond.”
