(Gray News) – Walmart is kicking off the holiday shopping season earlier than ever.
The retailer announced plans for a massive sales event starting in October to kick off the holiday shopping season.
According to a company news release, nearly 50% of consumers are starting their holiday shopping as early as August and September, so the company has decided to move its holiday sales to October.
“We know many of our customers are beginning to prepare for their holiday celebrations early, and we’ve adapted our approach to best meet their needs,” Latriece Watkins, Walmart executive vice president, said
The Holiday Deals event is expected to offer discounts of up to 50% off on items that include TVs, computers, clothing and home goods.
Walmart’s holiday event will run from Oct. 8-13 and start at noon ET that Tuesday with Walmart+ members getting access 12 hours earlier.
“We’ve worked hard to lower prices across our most exciting assortment ever, and we’re thrilled to give customers more of what they want this holiday – more time to prepare and more opportunities to save all season long,” Watkins said.
Shoppers have been advised to check Walmart’s app and online for the latest holiday deals. Flash Sale items will also be available with markdowns of up to 65%.
