After the break, Ishan Sharma commits a poor foul on Ian Jackson shooting a 3PT from the top of the key; he goes 2-3 from the line. A nice pick-and-roll between Rohde and Buchanan leads to a Buchanan turnaround bucket in the paint.
Cofie plays some strong defense, stopping RJ Davis, and Dai Dai Ames connects on a midrange jumper on the other end, before Trimble answers with a quick bucket of his own. Dai Dai Ames is coming to life, and gets another jumper to go for two. He now has 8 PTS (4-5 FG). UNC’s Jalen Washington dunks home a bucket down low for his first basket in the game. Despite a strong block from Robinson, UNC follows up on the offensive glass and Withers finishes a bucket after the offensive rebound. UVA is getting crushes on the offensive glass in Chapel Hill.

McKneely swishes home a fadeaway midrange jumper after the media timeout. He has a game high 15 PTS through 25 minutes of action. After a defensive stop, Rohde drills his second three of the night before Robinson swats away a UNC layup attempt, and Saunders gets to the line after being fouled on his layup attempt. Saunders goes 2-2 from the stripe.
Dai Dai Ames steals away a pass at the top of the key, but Virginia can’t find any points off the turnover as Rohde’s floater misses. RJ Davis drives into the lane and gets a layup, before Cofie slams home a dunk over a UNC defender on the other end. A steal on the other end for Virginia leads to a McKneely layup on the other end and it’s a 11-2 run for the Hoos, before Ian Jackson responds with a much needed three for the Hoos. Dai Dai Ames answers for UVA with a three-pointer, his first of the night, but RJ Davis drives yet again and connects on a tough layup, plus the foul. His free throw attempt is good.

Both teams exchange misses to begin the second half, before Dai Dai Ames gets the scoring started with a midrange two – his first points of the night after a strong offensive stretch as of late. UNC begins their second half scoring with a three-pointer from Powell, who’s 3-3 and up to 9 PTS on the evening.
Cadeau connects with Lubin on a well-executed pick-and-roll for a dunk, before UNC comes back down after a stop and Powell follows up his own miss for another bucket down low. It’s a quick, 7-0 run for UNC before Saunders gets fouled down low. Free throws for Saunders when we return.

Rohde gets an easy-two down low after a quick pass from Saunders. On the next UVA possession, McKneely hits his second three of the night curling off a screen, before Seth Trimble converts on an and-one layup in the lane.
After a Saunders travel down low, UNC gets an offensive rebound and connects on a three-pointer from Withers – he’s up to 11 PTS on the night. The ‘Hoos respond with a quick bucket from Robinson down low, assisted by McKneely via a strong entry pass. Davis drives into the lane, takes a hit from Rohde and gets to the line where he goes 1-2.
On the last UVA possession of the half, Rohde lets the clock wind down before traveling with 4.5 seconds to go. UNC timeout before their final possession of the half. After the timeout, Elliot Cadeau somehow drives down the length of the floor to convert a layup, but he just misses getting it off in time before the halftime buzzer – no basket.

McKneely opens the scoring after the timeout with a three-pointer, plus the foul – he makes the free throw to convert a rare four point play. UVA is 8-10 from the field after their slow 1-10 start, marking an impressive turnaround from the ‘Hoos early to get back within single digits.
RJ Davis gets to the line for UNC and is good on both from the line. After a Saunders missed 3PT, Taine Murray gets called for a foul down low fighting for the rebound. UNC ball when we return.

A flagrant foul is assessed to UNC’s Washington, and McKneely knocks down both awarded free throws for his third and fourth points of the evening. Rohde capatilizes on the flagrant foul, knocking down his first three of the evening, before Withers responds for UNC with a three-pointer of his own. Wither’s is assessed a technical foul after taunting the UVA bench following his corner three.
After McKneely connects on the technical free throw, Rohde finds Cofie for a strong alley-oop dunk – Cofie’s first bucket of the night and Virginia is finally showing some life on the offensive end.
Cofie comes back down and connects on a three-pointer from the top of the key – it’s a 14-3 for Virginia, before UNC’s Jackson gets an easy layup. After a McKneely miss, Withers is fouled in the paint and goes 2-2 from the stripe. Taine Murray drives and finds a left-handed layup for his first basket of the game, before Drake Powell gets back to the FT line and goes 1-2.
A McKneely steal is the 7th turnover of the evening for UNC, and Virginia gets a 3PT from Elijah Saunders before Cade Tyson responds with a three of his own for North Carolina. A nice pass from Blake Buchanan leads to an Ishan Sharma reverse layup down low, but UNC responds once again with a clean three-pointer from Jackson, who has 8 PTS thus far.

The ‘Hoos come out of the timeout and McKneely airballs his second three-point attempt of the night. UVA is 1-9 from the field to start, and can’t get a shot off before a shot clock violation on their next possession. It’s a disastrous start in Chapel Hill thus far, and Virginia can’t get anything going so far.
After a UNC miss, Anthony Robinson travels down low giving the ball right back to the Tar Heels, who capitalize with a Powell bucket down low, plus the foul. After a UVA turnover, Ian Jackson connects on a tough corner three-pointer – it’s a 15-0 run for UNC, before McKneely connects on his first bucket of the night, a clean mid-range fadeaway. UNC starts the game off hot, scoring the first three baskets of the game to jump out to a 6-0 lead. Withers connects on the first three-pointer of the night for the Tar Heels. Blake Buchanan scores the first basket of the game for Virginia.
After a Davis missed three, UNC gets an offensive rebound and finishes off a dunk. After a missed dunk from the hoos, UNC comes back down the other end Davis knocks down a nice mid-range jumper. It’s a 9-0 run and 15-2 start for the Tar Heels. TO UVA.
