Tennis player and social media personality Anna Frey has verbally committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Frey, a current high school junior, has amassed over 2 million followers on TikTok and 831,000 on Instagram.
“So soo happy to announce my verbal commitment to play D1 tennis at the University of North Carolina!” Frey wrote in a post on Instagram. “Thank you to my family, friends and coaches for all the love and support from day 1. Can’t wait for this next chapter in life… we’re just getting started baby! So excited to be a Tar Heel!🥹🩵#UNC“
North Carolina won the NCAA D1 Women’s Tennis Championship in 2023. The Tar Heels were national runner-ups in 2014, the only other title appearance in program history.
In August, Frey upset Tamara Korpatsch at the Tennis in The Land tournament in Cleveland. Korpatsch was ranked No. 108 in the world.
This fall, Frey signed name, image and likeness deals with FILA and Head USA, per Forbes. HEAD equipped Frey with racquets and gear, while Frey agreed to showcase FILA’s CASA FILA collection on the court.
“I’m so excited to partner with HEAD,” Frey said. “I love their commitment to the sport and to helping athletes reach their full potential. I’m excited to share this journey with you all and continue to encourage young people to pick up a racquet and get out on the court.”
