Egypt international Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet starred in his Al-Rayyan debut helping his team to a 4-2 win against Al Shahaniya SC.
Trezeguet joined Al-Rayyan just before the international break on a season-long loan from Turkish club Trabzonspor.
The Egyptian winger opened his goalscoring account for Al-Rayyan early after just five minutes with a shot from outside of the box that went past the Al Shahaniya SC goalkeeper.
Brazilian striker Róger Guedes doubled Al-Rayyan’s lead in the ninth minute before Trezeguet made another contribution when he assisted another new signing Julian De Sart to make it 3-0 in the 15th minute.
Al Shahaniya tried to mount a comeback and scored in the 20th minute; however, at the end of the first half, a counter attack led by Róger Guedes and a one-two between him and Trezeguet led to the Brazilian scoring his second of the game.
Al Shahaniya scored a second goal in the second half to end the game in a 4-2 victory for Al-Rayyan.
This win takes Al-Rayyan to six points from the first four games. That brilliant debut for Trezeguet capped a brilliant week for the winger that also saw him break into the top ten scoring list for the Egyptian national team.
Al-Rayyan are next in action against Hamdi Fathi’s Al Wakrah on 22 September at 6 PM CET.
