In the 1998 Belmont Stakes Real Quiet was bidding for the Triple Crown. He was heading for the wire in front, having seemingly put away the competition. But the wire didn’t come soon enough. A horse named Victory Gallop gathered steam at the top of the stretch and in one of the most memorable stretch drives in horse racing history, nipped Real Quiet at the line. That is what I think we’re seeing in North Carolina and Arizona. T has held small but consistent polling leads there, that is until today, as Harris gathers steam heading down the home stretch:
AZ: Harris up 48-47 CNN www.cnn.com/…and a NC poll has it at flat footed tie, 46-46 Elon (interestingly the poll has Harris winning women by only 3…seems strange). www.elon.edu/…
Anyway, we all know who has the big MO…Here’s to her nipping T at the wire in North Carolina….the champagne corks will be flying early.
