Vanderbilt basketball got an early signature win for coach Mark Byington with a 73-71 victory over Nevada in the first round of the Charleston Classic on Thursday.
The Commodores (5-0) will play Seton Hall (3-2) on Friday (4 p.m. CT, ESPN2) in the winners bracket. The Pirates have struggled a bit this season with losses to Fordham and Hofstra, but they did beat VCU in overtime in the first game in Charleston. This game is paired up with the FAU-Drake game in the bracket, with the winners of each game facing off and the losers also facing off.
The Charleston Classic takes place at TD Arena in Charleston, South Carolina, and concludes Sunday.
