MONTERREY, Mexico — Utah State’s golf team is currently in eighth place as it shot a 4-under 428 (285-143) during the first 27 holes of the Monterrey Collegiate Classic held here on Friday.
 
Utah State shot a 3-under 285 during its first 18 holes and is currently at 1-under 143 during the first nine holes of its second round.
 
Loyola Maryland leads the 12-team field at 13-under 419 (284-135) and Richmond is in second place at 11-under 421 (285-136). UTRGV’s Juan Luis Bethencourt is the individual leader after 27 holes at 11-under 97 (66-31).
 
Senior Julio Arronte and graduate John Cook led Utah State on Friday as the duo is tied for 19th at 2-under 106. Cook began the tournament with a 2-under 70 and is sitting at even-par 36 after the first nine holes of his second round. During his first 27 holes, Cook had one eagle, five birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey. Arronte shot a 1-under 71 during his first 18 holes and is at 1-under 35 thus far in his second round. Arronte has seven birdies and five bogeys thus far.
 
Sophomore Enrique Karg is tied for 28th at even par 108 as he shot a par 72 during his first round is at par 36 thus far during his second round.
 
Graduate Cole Enlow and senior Esteban Jaramillo are tied for 47th at 3-over 111. Jaramillo shot even par 72 during his first round and carded a 3-over 39 during the first nine holes of his second round. And Enlow shot a 3-over 75 during his first 18 holes and is at even par 36 midway through his second 18 holes.
