The Utah Jazz soundly defeated the Toronto Raptors 86 to 76. The Jazz’s best player on both ends of the court was Taylor Hendricks, the 9th pick of the 2023 NBA Draft. Hendricks nearly did not miss a shot (9-10) on his way to 23 points and 8 rebounds. Hendricks scored from all 3 levels today and displayed some improved shot-creation skills. Hendricks best ability, versatile defense, was also on full display getting 2 stocks and making shots at the rim difficult for the Raptors.
Kyle Filipowski was the Jazz’s second-best player, scoring 18 points on 53% shooting. this was Filipowski’s best game in a Utah uniform, it is worth monitoring if he can continue to score well at the NBA level. Isiah Collier and Cody Williams also had impactful games on both ends, though Collier’s turnovers and shooting limited his overall performance. Collier did not score well (6 points on 33% shooting) and had 5 turnovers, but his defense was strong (3 steals) and for several moments in the game, ran the offense like a professional point guard. Cody scored 15 points on 57% shooting and had 2 stocks. William’s finishing was impressive, giving continued hope that he can be more than a good 3-and-D option in the NBA.
The Utah Jazz are now 2-1 in the 2024 Vegas Summer League. Tomorrow (July 18th) Utah plays their likely last Summer League game of the year vs. the LA Clippers.
